Paramount Plus is now available in Switzerland
Families and people in Switzerland will be able to enjoy another online streaming platform, Paramount Plus, commencing in early December 2022. The new service from the famed movie director will provide residents in the alpine nation the option to view 400 different films plus MTV, Showtime and Comedy Central episodes on the internet. People in Switzerland, Germany, and Austria will be able to subscribe to the streaming service of Paramount Pictures, the studio behind Titanic, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Top Gun: Maverick, and the Transformer and Mission: Impossible films, beginning December 1, 2022. Viewers in Swiss cantons and towns will be able to see movies and TV episodes that were previously unavailable in Switzerland – at least without a subscription and VPN connecting.
At 12 francs a month for a single plan, Paramount Plus is priced in the middle. It’s not as inexpensive as Apple TV Plus, which costs 8 Swiss francs per month, but it’s considerably less than Netflix, which costs 24,90 Swiss francs per month for a premium plan – one of the highest Netflix pricing in Europe.
So, for 12 francs, what do you get?
According to moneyland.ch, the streaming portal will begin with roughly 400 movies and a handful of television programs. “Other productions from Paramount’s huge archives will almost certainly be included in the future,” moneyland.ch telecom specialist Ralf Beyeler said.
Consumer analysts expect a difficult path ahead for Paramount Plus.
While it is the newest streaming service on the market, analysts at moneyland.ch believe it will be difficult for Paramount Plus to establish a presence in Switzerland, with 58 percent of inhabitants informing the business that they still use Netflix on a daily basis. “It’s not simple to persuade Swiss customers to acquire an additional membership,” Beyeler said.
