Celebrating 20 years of partnership, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jacob & Co. have collaborated on two new timepieces, dubbed the Jacob & Co. CR7 Epic X. The first watches, which celebrate Ronaldo’s global football dominance as well as the timekeeper’s penchant for advanced watchmaking, include highly individualized versions of the flagship Epic X. The first edition, “Flight of CR7,” is made of rose gold and has bezels set with 26 baguette-cut diamonds. It was hand-delivered to Ronaldo in Lison on November 17, just before he left for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The trailblazer has a long history with the watch firm, having met creator Jacob Arabo in the early days of his profession 20 years ago.
With a 44 mm case, X-shaped lugs, a diamond-set bezel, and a tonal crown, the CR7 Epic X series promotes traditional watch design. The clock is powered by Jacob & Co.’s distinctive caliber, the JCAM45, and has a skeletonized movement with two vertical pillars portraying Ronaldo and the CR7 logo. Whereas the “Flight of CR7” model is red, the “Heart of CR7” model is green, with a stainless steel construction and a bezel studded with 26 baguette-cut white diamonds.
As a skeleton clock, the Jacob & Co x CR7 Epic X lacks a dial. A fully adorned plate would obscure the view of the calibre, which is a big draw. Nonetheless, Jacob & Co.’s design sense resulted in the incorporation of vertical bridges. They may be a part of the movement, yet they have a specific purpose on the dial.
